Buckle your Seat Belts Please........

Read This At Least Once What? GMTips means General Maintenance Tips. It is a bulletin board based site to bring together "all" car lovers. Not just Ford or Chevy, not just Domestic or Import, not just New or Old, but all Auto Buffs into one club, organization, meeting place to exchange ideas, build friendships, and help each other in times of need........personal or automotive. Why? Thanks to a bunch of great friends at www.thirdgen.org I was coached through repairs and mods on my newly acquired (but broken) 86 Trans Am. The ending result was thousands of dollars saved on repairs. I opened my own personal site,, to try and pay back my debt to others who might need help and assistance. It was this "adventure" that I saw the power, camaraderie, and fun that could be had with a bulletin board based website. 3rd Degree Change of Heart On previous sites I had seen the jabs and flames that Ford vs. Chevy owners made to each other. The posting wars that even 3rd Gen vs. 4th Gen owners initiated. The insults that Import vs. Good Ol' American owners gave each other. I, myself, was not supposed to like Mustangs because I was a 3rd Gen Firebird and TransAm owner. Then the inevitable happened. I re-kindled a relationship with a high-school acquaintance and GUESS WHAT.....she had an old 67 Mustang that needed some TLC. Well I fell in love with the simplicity of that little car and the place that the Mustang held in American Car History. Further, I acquired an old 68' Jeep Wagoneer with 61,000 original miles and had to respect the way the 350 Buick engine ran, and the way it was constructed. Recently I satisfied some of my "old car sweet tooth" by purchasing a 53 Chevy Bel Air. I can remember my younger days hating these cars, overshadowed by the 55-56-57 popularity, but now I absolutely love it with it's 30 HP 235 6 Cylinder. Then my friend bought two VW Beetles, which I thought were stupid and way over priced.........UNTIL.....I drove one. An absolutely awesome car. The turbo model he has will plant you back into the heated leather seats, and they are absolutely a blast to drive and the engineering demands respect. My Point? I was wrong. I jumped to automotive conclusions. My tunnel vision was narrow. And unless you want to be waxed by a import Volkswagen, or have a 68 Jeep Wagoneer blow your bright red Trans Am in the weeds, it's best to keep a very open mind.........or wear dark sunglasses. My Mission? Is very simple. I want it all..........LOL. I want to bring all car lovers together in one place. Without the wars and sparring matches. Have good natured fun........yes, but hurt somebody or their feelings......no. Since this site is bulletin board based I invite you to go ahead and join free while I construct the surrounding site which will include articles, tips, links, etc. That way I can beta test the board and get it fine tuned. Your suggestions are welcomed. The layout is a place to start and it will change often. Requested boards and forums will be added, unused ones will be deleted. Go ahead and click the link below and register. You will be emailed a random password. Go back into the board and "Edit Your Profile" to change the password to something you can remember. Let's Have Some Fun and Help Each Other When We Can Best Regards, Mike
